It is only the 2nd edition of the Copa do Brasil and, with a spot in the 1991 Libertadores in dispute, this title means so much for both teams. The face of Flamengo, Zico, retired in 1989, and the Mengão needed Júnior (if not for Zico, he would be arguably the best Flamengo player ever) and Renato Gaúcho to step up and lead a team with good young players to the 1st national title without the best number 10 that ever played for the Rubronegro. Djalminha, one of the most skilled players that ever played football, is wearing the "mystic number" in this match for Flamengo, but, at a very young age, this could prove to be a heavy burden for the future legend for Flamengo, Palmeiras, Guarani and Deportivo La Coruña. The Goiás team has the chance to win its 1st national title ever and to play its 1st Libertadores. It's a great motivation for this team. The highlights of the Esmeraldino are Lira, a good defender in the early 1990s, who played 8 games for Brazil's National Team, Luvanor, one of the best Goiás players ever and its best player in the 1980s, and, of course, Túlio Maravilha. The latter was a very good and deadly striker that marked the 1990s in Brazil's National First Division. He was 3 times the top goalscorer of Brazil's football top tier (1989, 1994 and 1995), a legend for Botafogo and Goiás and, by his own calculations, achieved 1000 goals scored by 2014. Since his peak was during the early to mid-1990s, he didn't receive too many chances at the Seleção, because Brazil was saturated with superb forwards back then.
